​Crises are an integral part of life. They can even be considered opportunities for change. But how should we react if we are present during someone else's crisis? Should we comfort, soothe? Or does it help to just let the person talk?

Are you a professional who works in the field of psychology, psychotherapy, pedagogy, healthcare and you work with clients who are or may be in a crisis situation? Or are you a parent, student or do you work outside the helping professions and are simply interested in this area? And would you like to have the tools to work appropriately in a crisis? We invite you to our experiential 32-hour online crisis intervention course entitled Communication with a Client in Crisis, led by experienced lecturers and therapists.

COURSE CONTENT:

what is a crisis, how do you recognize it

what helps in a crisis situation and what doesn't

sources that are good to draw from in a crisis

essentials of a good setting with a person in crisis

crisis phases and what not to forget in them

when to send a client to another service and what services actually exist

demanding client manifestations and how to respond to them appropriately

a client with suicidal behavior

lots of case studies, modeling by you and the lecturers that will draw you in

WHO IS THE COURSE INTENDED FOR

The course is intended for experts in the field of psychotherapy, psychology, social work, healthcare, pedagogy or other helping professions, but also for laypeople who are interested in this topic.

COURSE LECTURERS

Mgr. Zuzana Tupá

 

She studied social work, social pedagogy and psychosocial studies at the Charles University Faculty of Social Sciences. She is a graduate of the INSTEP psychotherapeutic training in integrative gestalt. Since 2009, she has worked at the Safety Line as a consultant for the telephone crisis line, chat crisis line and also worked in the email counseling center and as a shift leader and project leader for the Safety Line in your class. She also has experience from the Prague Trust Line and working with people with mental illness. Since 2019, she has been engaged in private practice, currently at the Interse Center for Therapy and Public Education.


Mgr. Michal Kniha

Michal Kniha is a therapist, mediator and lecturer. He studied special education at Charles University. He completed training in group psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and is currently training in counseling for children and families and child psychotherapy at the Institute of Child Counseling and Therapy. He has been working in the helping professions for 20 years. He has worked as a social worker in social services, a crisis interventionist on helplines, and as a therapist and mediator in private practice.
