Clinical psychological examination of children and adolescents
Clinical psychological examination is a key tool for assessing the mental state and overall psychological condition of the patient. It serves to accurately diagnose and set up further care.
The examination is most often recommended by a doctor, such as a general practitioner, psychiatrist or neurologist, and serves to make an accurate diagnosis and determine further care.
Clinical psychological examination of children and adolescents
Clinical psychological examination helps to better understand the child's psychological state - their emotions, behavior, way of thinking and functioning in relationships. The examination is also important for the so-called differential diagnosis - i.e. for distinguishing between various psychological disorders that may appear similar on the outside. It serves as an important basis for designing appropriate care or treatment.
The examination is based on an interview with the child and parent (a so-called clinical interview), which is supplemented by various psychodiagnostic methods - for example, questionnaires or standardized psychological tests. The examination is carried out by a clinical psychologist or a health psychologist under the professional supervision of a clinical psychologist.
The aim is to provide a comprehensive view of the child's psychological functioning.
For example, we evaluate:
-
emotional state (anxiety, mood),
-
way of thinking and concentration,
-
behavior and self-control,
-
ability to establish and maintain social relationships
In our facility, we perform clinical-psychological examinations of children:
-
assessment of the child's overall psychological state and developmental level
-
neuropsychological examinations (e.g. after injuries, epilepsy)
-
neurodevelopmental examinations
-
autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and other developmental differences
-
clinical-psychological assessment of children and adolescents who are dealing with gender identity issues and considering gender reassignment
